A Second Year in the micro:bit Champions Community

Dimitris Papanagiotakis, Founder and Scientific Director of Paros Innovation Center, has been selected as a micro:bit Champion for 2026, for a second consecutive year following 2025. His selection continues an educational journey connecting programming with creativity, experimentation and problem-solving.

Two consecutive years in the micro:bit Champions community hold particular significance for the Center’s educational work. They highlight the continuity of an effort built day by day in the lab: through new ideas, experiments, projects of different scales and students gradually gaining the confidence to create their own solutions.

At Paros Innovation Center, micro:bit brings code into contact with the physical world. Students write programs, use sensors, record data and connect their instructions with the responses of a real creation. An abstract concept becomes something they can observe, test and improve.

Under Dimitris Papanagiotakis’s scientific and educational guidance, educational robotics and programming activities make room for curiosity and teamwork. Children learn to break a problem into steps, explain their decisions and treat an error as the starting point for another experiment. The value of this process lies in the skills they develop and the enjoyment of creating.

For Paros and the Cyclades, the continuity of this work connects with a lasting goal: giving island students access to modern tools and meaningful opportunities for technology education close to where they live. The lab becomes a place where their ideas can take shape and connect with questions about everyday life and their surroundings.

Selection as a micro:bit Champion for both 2025 and 2026 provides motivation for the next step. We continue to design learning experiences that help children understand technology, use it creatively and develop the thinking skills and confidence to shape ideas of their own.
