At the School of Educational Robotics of the Paros Innovation Center we are particularly excited for the coming academic year! We developed educational programs with the aim of introducing the children of our island to a path of knowledge, understanding and mastery of technology, offering them a multidimensional and enriched learning experience.
The journey starts with PaperBots, continues with LEGO’s educational robotics platforms with next stops the micro:bit, Arduino and Raspberry Pi microcomputers. Our students have the opportunity to develop practical skills through exercises that utilize the capabilities of each microcomputer. At the same time, on this trip, they experience numerous applications of basic electronics using breadboards, creating their first circuits and developing educational robotics and STEM applications, utilizing robotic arms, educational robotic platforms such as the Maqueen and Kitronik platforms, quadrupeds and humanoid robots. The experience is further enhanced by utilizing a multitude of sensors and visual recognition systems that make use of AI technology.
An important part of our training involves introducing students to the basic concepts of programming, with a special emphasis on the Python language. Starting with fundamental knowledge of programming, our students become familiar with the principles of program development, while gradually progressing to applying this knowledge with programs written in Python. At the same time, students are introduced to powerful Python libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib, which can pique their interest as they open new horizons in the world of data, science, and machine learning.
In addition, we explore Python’s satellite languages and frameworks such as Django and Flask for web development, giving our students a well-rounded understanding of the Python ecosystem. Thus, our students gain a comprehensive view of the capabilities of Python and its applications, which can inspire them to pursue further involvement in technology and software development.
Regarding last year, we are particularly proud of the fact that our School took part in the final of the Panhellenic STEM Competition 2024 with two teams, achieving important distinctions. This experience has strengthened our commitment to education and innovation, and this year we are more ready than ever for new great successes.
Overall, our effort to promote technological knowledge on the island of Paros is something we are very proud of. We aspire to give the children of Paros the tools and knowledge they need to pioneer in the world of technology. We are looking forward to the new academic year coming and the challenges we will face together with our students!
